My 5 year old daughter loves this costume! it looks great. the wings aren't too big, so they stay open unlike costumes we've had in the past with larger wings. I didn't realize that this is not a leotard underneath, so you will need a pair of shorts or something to wear over the tights if you buy them, they do not come with the costume.Caution...size runs very small
Purchased this for my 7 year old who normally wears size 7/8 in clothing. We tried on the 10/12 and it was still a bit small. The gloves are teeny tiny and I had to sew the bows on the gloves back on because of poor quality. The leotard itself runs large around the collar and very very small around the waist. It is NOT a leotard so shorts are needed underneath. The tights are super small. The size they give you seem to be toddler size...almost ridiculously too small. I had to resew the wings because the strap came off while my daughter was trying it on. Glad I didn't pay over $20 for this poorly made item.Great Costume
I love this costume because it's unique, cute and I love purple. The "skirt" or tu-tu is a little short, but she's going to have to wear long pants in the cold anyway. Although very cute, this costume runs very small. It is particularly disappointing because ordering for Halloween it was too late to exchange. We ordered size 4-6 for a 5 year old and it probably would fit a 3 year old. Very bad deal.Cute, but Don't buy it for the Lights
My girl & I were both expecting quite a lot more from the lights. I thought the fiber optics ran all throughout the skirt - it does not, in fact, there is only one small bunch of 'fibers' attached to the front right of the skirt. You have to find the button to turn on the lights (which is a small, dim red light that flashes), it blinks for a few seconds and then turns off.. so then you dig for the button again if you want it back on, but really what's the point, its nothing impressive. It is a cute dress, I do love the purple material & print on the skirt, but the lights were just kindof a let down for us. She wanted a witch costume, so she has one, just not the super cool twinkly one we thought it was. As a frequent buyer from Amazon, I rely heavily on reviews (and appreciate them). This item I purchased with NO reviews, other than the review for the "Large" one. I have an 8 year old boy, that is very tall, and the medium fits him nicely, he is 70 lbs about 4'7/4'8 I fear the large would have been too large. The quality is great. I like that the leggings are attached to the boots, so you don't have to worry about the boots falling down. Very nice quality. The tunic is separate (red), the pants/boots, and the third piece is the armour, which ties under the arms. We're using this for an Alexander the Great costume to complete his biography of him.Runs Big
The child's size large was huge! My 10-year-old won't be able to wear this for years. In fact, I think the pants would even be a little long on me, and I'm 5'6".Kids costume

Be careful what you are buying. there are tons of Merida costumes out there and
they all seem alike on the pictures.
Here is what you need to know:
All merida costumes do come in two colors : dark green and turqoise blue, all of them.
REason being - the princess wears two costumes in the movie so ther you have it.
Now: within each color you can find basically two or three levels of quality.
Top quality will be your disney store costumes- they will be all over amazon or other places like eebay and they will be more expensive then all others.
