My oldest daughter wanted this costume to wear at home for dress up play. I was hesitant because of the price tag. When a relative offered to get it for her and I found it on-line, we let her have it as a birthday gift, assuming it would make her happy, even if it didn't last long. I was truly surprised and happy to see that the quality of the stitching and materials is very good.
We've purchased a lot of costumes off the rack at major department stores only to learn that they last less than 6 months before falling completely apart. So when I saw the girls playing a bit rough in the Disney brand costumes at 2 - 3X the price, I am very happy to say that they really are much better quality and last well.
While they are not machine-washable, they do clean rather well with a bottle of Shout! and some water. In fact, one of the Rapunzel wedding dresses we ordered had a black liquid ink pen leak onto it, leaving a large circular blot on the white dress. I sprayed it with some...gorgeous

We ordered this Dorothy costume for our daughter, who is just barely size 7. The blouse and dress are separate, which worked out well for us. The straps were much too long but we were able to shorten them with a quick stitch-up. The material is a little scratchy but with a shirt underneath it's fine. I think the quality is better than those satiny versions (I didn't check the material but it feels like polyester or very rough cotton), and I like that it's not tarted up with glitter and sequence.Wonderful

My teenager has wanted to be a pirate for a few years. This costume was cute, fun and she was very happy with how she looked and with all of the accessories like the faux belt and the head scarf. Her friends were inpressed and if you have teens, you know how hard that is!! We were origionally going to trade it in for a differnt size but I am glad now that we didn't as the fit was good and she was happy.

The sizing and name was confusing but after several emails I was able to get what I wanted a size 8 for a 7 year old child. She wore it for Pirates night on a Disney Cruise and loved it.so cute!!
We recently went on a Disney Cruise and needed a pirate costume for the Pirate Themed Night. This is by far the cutest girl pirate costume I have seen. The material is good quality much better than the average halloween costume quality. It fit my 6 year old well. The head scarf is very cute. It seemed like a comfortable costume and she loved wearing it. It is not too skimpy like some of the other costumes we were looking at. The tunic is the length of a short skirt or long shirt and it comes with leggings that are more like tights. My daughter wore her own black leggings with it and loved it. The Melissa and Doug Costumes are much higher quality than the other children's costumes I have purchased. The Fabric on this is very pretty and my kid loves it. I have a hard time getting her to take it off so it is good that the fabric is tough. It is pretty short on her in the back since the skirt does not extend down to the flippers in the back.Adorable

There is nice detail in these wings so my daughter appreciated that she really looked like a Blue Morpho butterfly. When I first got it, I thought it was really cute, however my grand daughter wore it to a church function and have 30 minutes of having it on, found it ripped very easily. By the time we left the church it had torn at nearly all the seams with any movement leaving her embarrassed because of the big holes in her outfit. Would not buy this again or any other costume from this vendor.Bigger size than I thought
I ordered the size small (4-6) costume for my 3 yr old daughter (she's 26 lbs and about 37" tall). She was playing a queen in her school play. I'm guessing she won't fit into this costume until she's at least 6? Way too big now. I'm hoping that she'll still be on the the slimmer side then because this is definitely made for a slim build. It 'grabs' under the chest area pretty snugly and the sleeves are for skinny arms. It comes with the 'wand' that is made out of what feels like a strong straw and the heart is 2 pieces of material glued together so it looks ok on both sides. The crown is just material so you'll need an actual tiara or something to attach it to if you want it to stay on your child's head. The dress itself... the red portion is a pretty thin material, same with the cream area with gold sparkly hearts. The white portion with red hearts is a felt material.
